Raleigh Children & Adolescents Medicine began in 1966 when Robert Fleming, MD opened a solo pediatric medical practice on Clark Avenue near Cameron Village.
Over the years, he was joined by Stephen Edwards, MD, Alan Goldman, MD, Marjorie Carr, MD, and Leigh Lehan, MD. Each of those have completed their pediatric careers and professional service to the health and well-being of children.
Dr. Tom Sena is from upstate New York. He played rugby while earning his medical degree at Albany Medical College. He left the chill of the North for pediatric residency at Duke where he met his wife.
Almost a native of Raleigh, Dr. Todd Harris escaped to Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky. for college where he enjoyed regular attendance in Rupp Arena for Kentucky basketball games.
Yet another native North Carolinian who went to UNC-CH but here’s a twist: Dr. Ben Meares’ undergrad degree was in Business and he worked for a bank before returning to Chapel Hill for his medical degree.
Dr. Jamila Fletcher also hails from the City of Oaks. She attended Duke University as an undergraduate where she competed in the high jump as a member of the track team.
Dr. Jen Long grew up in Greensboro, NC. Though her academic career included significant time in Chapel Hill, she is clear that her heart remains with her undergraduate school, North Carolina State University.
Not only is Dr. Lily Harris another Raleigh native, she is also a native of Raleigh Children & Adolescents Medicine – she is our first pediatrician who as a child was also a patient in our practice.
